First and foremost, I would like to tell you that Consensual is going to be ON SALE until Sept 17th… So there is another entire TWO WEEKS for you to snatch it up, read it and spread the word. I am so glad that people are giving me the chance to entertain them!
Next, I was rereading BB to prepare for the punishing edit that has to be done before I can get a copy edit– and I found my favorite line in both of the books. My heart stopped; I had completely forgotten that I had written it after describing the piece that Emmy was playing.
Please allow me to demonstrate how this gut punched me…
First, you must listen to Rachmaninov’s Vocalise (Op. 34/14) performed by Yo-Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin. Yeah, I know.
The sounds she was creating filled the room and caressed them, and the staid sadness of the piece seemed to permeate the walls and floor. He felt like he was being carried away by a cool autumn breeze, like a leaf from where it sat on a branch, turning from green to yellow, and fading to brown. The harmonization sounded as though she were mourning for the falling beauty. The sounds from the cello rose in a crescendo one last time, and then faded out as her voice trailed away.
And that is the interplay of music and words that drives me to write.
